Duke Blue Devils vs. Miami Hurricanes Free Gambling Prediction & CBB Preview

Blue Devils vs Hurricanes CBB Basketball Spread/Handicapping

The Blue Devils are back on top of the polls after several teams joined them with a loss recently.  Funnily enough Duke is not at the top of their own conference, a spot occupied by Miami who has yet to lose in ACC play.

Duke

The last time these two tangled Miami came out on top.

Not quite a changing of the guard but a signal that Duke better not overlook the Hurricanes, even though they play rival Maryland on the weekend.

In their loss to N.C. State Miles Plulee played all 40 minutes.  He had a solid game but to me it was a sign that Duke is suffering more from depth with Ryan Kelly out than expected.  The Hurricanes will be missing their best big in this one so perhaps it won’t matter as much as it did in that game.

Either way I like Amile Jefferson to continue to get minutes and provide production.

The more he plays the better he plays it seems.

Anytime you see a winning team like Duke as such a short favourite it gets your attention.

The fact is these guys win and they are good in the clutch.

They are a tough team to play catch up against because they make great decisions and shoot free throws really well too.  They are feeling a bit like an underdog too given the standings which makes them dangerous.

Miami

The Hurricanes are steadily building their program, making the state of Florida not just a football hotbed.  They have gotten off to a perfect start in conference play but their losses outside of the ACC put this program into question – Florida Gulf Coast  – really?.

Not to be overlooked though is that they have already won three road games in the league and have matched up well with Duke in the past. [ad-6571516]

When they beat Duke last year, big center Reggie Johnson was a monster with 27 points.  For all their length Duke just couldn’t handle his bulk.  He is out putting a lot more pressure on Kenny Khadji whose instinct it is to drift away from the hoop.  He creates mismatches their offensively but isn’t the same kind of presence on defense.

Center Julian Gamble is also a load and his production has increased with more playing time.

Miami is playing really well right now.  I wish Johnson was in the lineup to add presence but either way I think these guys are going to compete.  As long as they get off to a good start they will be a live dog all game long.

They can exploit some of the Blue Devils’ weaknesses and are probably more athletic overall.
