The Texas Longhorns can move closer to clinching the Big 12 regular season title and the number one ranking in next week’s polls when they host the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a conference tilt in Austin.

The Cowboys know that most bracketologists are projecting five or six teams from the Big 12 to be chosen for the NCAA Tournament come Selection Sunday. So this game would be a critical victory for Oklahoma State, which enters the game with an RPI of 54.

A 4-6 conference record is what currently is working against them, and coach Travis Ford hopes that his club has righted the ship after dropping five out of six in January. The Longhorns have already posted a 61-46 win in Stillwater back on January 26. Oklahoma State will look to shoot better from the floor than they did in that January loss when they shot just 32.1 percent from the field and a paltry one for 11 from 3-point range.

The Cowboys might also want to check Tristan Thompson. The 6’8” freshman saved the best for last, scoring all 14 of his points in the second half to help the Longhorns pull away. Thompson is one of four players averaging double digits in points per game at 12.8. He is joined by leading scoring Jordan Hamilton (18.9 ppg), Gary Johnson (11.8) and Cory Joseph (11.0). Hamilton is shooting 41.1 percent from beyond the arc, and Texas as a team is averaging 38 percent from downtown.

The Longhorns have won ten straight and 16 of their last 17 games.

For Oklahoma State, they need a big night from Keiton Page. The Cowboys junior guard is averaging 14.1 points per contest, second on the club behind Marshall Moses. But in their first meeting, Page played 28 minutes and scored zero points, missing all seven field goal attempts that night. Moses is averaging 14.9 points each game, and JP Olukemi is also scoring 12 points per game.

The Cowboys play No.17 Texas A&M at home on Saturday and visit No.1 Kansas on Monday. They likely need to win two of three in this stretch and one game in the conference tournament to gain an at-large bid.

CBB Betting Trends:

OKLST are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 Wed. games.
OKLST are 19-39-2 ATS in their last 60 road games.
Under is 14-3 in TEX last 17 overall.
TEX are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
TEX are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 vs. Big 12.
Under is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Texas.
Home team is 11-5-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings.

Matt’s Free Pick: Texas – With Kansas losing to Kansas State on Monday night, you know the Longhorns smell blood in the water and want to grab that top ranking for themselves.
