The Horned Frogs will have their work cut out for them as they try to slow down the nation’s leading scorer, BYU’s Jimmer Fredette, on Saturday afternoon as the Cougars look to continue their dominance in the MWC over woeful TCU.
Fredette leads the nation with 27.3 points per game and is the frontrunner to be the National Player of the Year.
The seventh-ranked Cougars have been steamrolling through conference play to a record of 10-1 in the Mountain West, one game back of league leaders San Diego State.
BYU has won its last four in a row including a 72-59 romp over the Utes in conference action on Saturday. Brigham Young took this one by dominating Utah in assists and free throw shooting. 
Fredette not surprisingly led the way for the Cougars with 23 points in 36 minutes on the court while new shining star Charles Abouo helped the cause by topping everyone with 10 rebounds. Abouo — a starter earlier this season whose role had been reduced over the past two months — had a career high-tying 22 points in 29 minutes, with 17 first-half points.
Meanwhile, the Horned Frogs continue to struggle losing nine in a row while dropping to 1-11 in conference play after falling to Colorado State, 69-55 in Fort Worth on Wednesday.
TCU shot just 35.1 percent in the loss. There was a big gap in rebounding with Colorado State tallying 46 boards compared to 28 by Texas Christian. Nikola Cerina and J.R. Cadot led the Horned Frogs scoring, each with 12 points. Hank Thorns added a game-leading eight assists, but all of it would not be enough.
Brigham Young has already played Texas Christian this season, back on January 18, and won 83-67. Fredette had 21 points in that contest. Last season, the Cougars went 3-0 against the Horned Frogs, with an average 20-point margin of victory. In four seasons, Brigham Young has a record of 11-0 against Texas Christian, and 4-0 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
