Louisville Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Bearcats Preview

In a Big East match up on Wednesday night the Cincinnati Bearcats (19-6) host the 16th ranked Louisville Cardinals (19-6). NCAAB lines have Cincinnati as slight 1-point home favorites in this game with a total of 129.5.

In their last games Cincinnati lost to St. John’s 59-57 at home on Sunday while Louisville upset Syracuse 73-69 on Saturday.

In Cardinals are in the killer part of their schedule, as they have faced 4 ranked teams in their last 5 games and in that span they are 3-2. The Bearcats have struggled as of late losing 3 of their last 5 games and they have lost their last 2 home games.

This season Louisville has been a decent betting team at 12-9-1 ATS while Cincinnati is only 9-11 ATS. Louisville is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games at Cincinnati and in the last 5 games between these 2 Big East teams the total has gone Under 4 times.

The Cardinals are a much higher scoring team and Cincinnati and their 5th ranked defense will have to step up tonight. In the last 3 losses by the Bearcats they have failed to score at least 60 points. G Preston Knowles is the player the Bearcats have to shut down, as he is the leading scorer for Louisville and is hitting over 40% of his 3-point bombs.

In their last loss to St. John’s the Bearcats allowed the Red Storm to shoot 50% from the field and they only shot 35.8% from the floor. If they don’t improve upon both of those numbers they will lose their 3rd straight home game.

Cincy F Yancy Gates (10.6 ppg 6.5 rpg) has not played a lot since getting suspended earlier this month. However, he may be used more tonight, as he is the 2nd leading scorer for the Bearcats and they will need him on the boards tonight. He and G Dion Dixon (11.2 ppg) will have to play a good inside-outside game tonight.

Louisville is a much smaller team, but they are more athletic and they can score. The Bearcats will not keep up with the Cardinals, who will win this important Big East road game.

Betting Trends

Louisville is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games following an ATS win and Cincinnati is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite.

Pick: Louisville +1
