The Stanford Cardinal will attempt to complete their season sweep over the Washington Huskies when they visit Seattle on Saturday evening.

Washington has a definitive upper hand in this game. Their 13-2 record at home gives them a home court advantage versus Stanford and its 2-6 road record.

The Cardinal, losers of five of eight games, have won their last two in a row including a 75-62 upset at Washington State on Thursday. Jeremy Green and Dwight Powell scored 21 of their 40 points to put the Cardinal up by as many as 19 in the first half as Stanford came away with a win that they probably shouldn’t have.

Stanford got the victory by overwhelming Washington State in three-point shooting and by also winning the assists battle. Green put up the most points against the Cougars with 24, 15 of those points coming from three point range. Powell chipped in with eight huge rebounds.

It’s been an up and down ride for the Cardinal every since they knocked off a then-No. 18 Washington back on Jan 13. They fell to No. 16 Arizona, before sweeping last-place Arizona State and then complete the spit with the Cougs.

Meanwhile, Washington shelled Cal, winning 109-77. The Huskies ran away with it, beating the Bears big in three pointers and assists. Washington launched a barrage of threes and took away 51 points, while spreading the ball around for an amazing 30 assists. Isaiah Thomas had a team-high 23 points including 18 points coming from beyond the 3-point arc.

Hitting 15 more three-pointers than their opponents do, the Huskies shot 56.6 percent from the floor and won by dominating the glass (36-27), blocking shots (11-1), and forcing turnovers (9-16).

If Thomas has another productive night, you can probably just all but forget about a Cardinal win here. However, Stanford controlled pace the first time the teams played to win 58-56.

Matt’s Free Pick: Washington –The Huskies are 12-0 at home with an average margin of victory of 27.25 points. But can they beat a Cardinal team that stayed right with them edging them out by two on the road? I expect yes.
