Butler Bulldogs vs. UCONN Huskies Preview
Well the National Championship game is set and Butler has another chance to win it all after losing in last season’s title game and to do it they will have to beat a UCONN team that is red-hot and has one of the best players in the nation in Kemba Walker.
In their Final 4 games Butler beat VCU 70-62 and UCONN beat Kentucky 56-55.
Can Butler stop Walker, who had 18 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds in the win over Kentucky? That is their main goal even though no team has been able to do so in the Big Dance. Jeremy Lamb chimed in for 12 points in the win over Kentucky and while the Huskies shot the ball well and played great defense they only hit on 1 of 12 of their 3-pointers.
UCONN held Kentucky to 33.9% shooting, but they did allow the Wildcats to hit 9 -3pointers and Butler is also a solid 3-pt shooting team and they cannot allow the Bulldogs to bomb away from deep. 
The Bulldogs did not shoot the rock well in the win over VCU (35.6% from the floor), but they played solid defense and they killed the Rams on the boards. Shelvin Mack had a great game going for 24 points on 8/11 shooting and he hit on 5 of his 6 3-point shots, but while Matt Howard and Shawn Vanzant each scored in double figures they only combined to shoot 6/21 from the floor.
UCONN is like VCU, as they can run with the best of them and Butler will have to slow them down and especially not allow Walker and Lamb from getting out on the break. Butler will be facing a much better rebounding team and they have to hit the boards like they did against VCU. On the other side of the coin UCONN cannot give up 13 offensive boards like they did against Kentucky.
Butler will be playing a very athletic team in UCONN and the Huskies simply have too much talent in the backcourt, as that will be the difference in this game. Walker will have another good game and lead the Huskies to a win and UCONN will also cover the 3.5-point spread.
