Two teams in need of some victories to bolster their standing in the Big 12 Conference and with the NCAA Tournament selection committee, meet in Stillwater on Tuesday as the Baylor Bears visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Both teams find themselves in the middle of the pack in a crowded conference race. The Bears are 7-7 in league play and 18-10 overall with an RPI of 72. The Cowboys are just 5-9 in conference play with an overall record of 17-11 and an RPI of 59. So in advance of next week’s conference tournament in Kansas City, this game is important for both clubs.

Baylor posted a big victory in their last outing by defeating No.17 Texas A&M 58-51 on Saturday at home. Both Perry Jones and top scorer LaceDarius Dunn, each of whom scored 16 points apiece in the victory, paced the Bears. Dunn leads the conference in scoring averaging 20.2 points per game. The Bears are shooting 47.2 percent as a team from the field, second to Kansas in the Big 12 Conference. Baylor has just a single regular season game remaining after this one against Texas this weekend, so this is a must-win for the Bears.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State snapped a four game losing streak on Saturday by defeating Texas Tech 70-68. The Cowboys rallied late to defeat the Red Raiders as J.P. Olukemi scored 20 points, including a key three-point play with less than 26 second in regulation, to help the Cowboys earn the victory. Marshall Moses leads the Cowboys in scoring by averaging 14.6 points per game. He and three other seniors will be playing their final home games in Stillwater in the game.

The Cowboys also count on secondary scoring 13.3 points per game from Keiton Page. Moses and Darrell Williams led the Cowboys in rebounding averaging 7.3 boards per contest.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Baylor – The Bears easily won the first matchup between these two teams because they shot 60 percent in the victory while limiting the Cowboys to just 39.2 percent from the floor. The Cowboys will need to do a better job of taking advantage of turnovers if they want to gain a season-split.
