Cincinnati Bearcats vs. UCONN Huskies Preview
Both Cincinnati and UCONN had no problems and winning their first games of the Big Dance and the Bearcats look to avenge their home loss to the Huskies earlier this season. NCAAB lines have UCONN as 3-point favorites in this game with a total of 129.5.
In their second round games UCONN was no match for Bucknell schooling them 81-52 and Cincinnati beat a tough Missouri team 78-63.
Both teams covered the spread in their second round games and for the season UCONN was 19-11 ATS and Cincinnati was 16-13 ATS. The Huskies have covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games against the Bearcats including covering the game earlier this season.
UCONN comes into this game red-hot, as before their beat down against Bucknell they won the Big East conference tournament and beat 4 ranked teams to do it. G Kemba Walker continued his solid play in the win over Bucknell going for 18 points while G/F Jeremy Lamb and Roscoe Smith combined to score 33 points and the Huskies dominated Bucknell on the boards.
In the Bearcats loss to the Huskies at home at the end of February they allowed UCONN to shoot 50% from the field and they will have to play better D in order to pull off the upset and advance to the sweet 16.
Cincinnati beat Missouri with their rebounding and especially on defense holding the Tigers to 38.1% shooting. F Yancy Gates and Dion Dixon combined to score 34 points in the win and if UCONN can shut these guys down they will be in good shape, as they are the only players for Cincy that are averaging in double figures.
Cincinnati only ranks 164th in the nation in scoring and they will have to rely on their defense, which ranks 9th in the nation in opponents’ scoring. However, Cincy has given up more than 10 points per game than their season average in their last 3 games.
UCONN is simply on fire and even though Cincy has a good defense they will not stop the Huskies. Walker will have another good game and the Huskies, who rank 11th in the nation in rebounds per game, will dominate the boards.
