San Diego State will look to keep their four-game winning streak alive when they make a brief stop in Sin City to take on UNLV on Saturday night in a highly anticipated MWC bout.
The Rebels, winners of five of their last six would like nothing more than to spoil the Aztecs aspirations of walking away from the Thomas & Mack Center 25-1 overall and 10-1 atop the Mountain West.
San Diego State is on fire, and displayed their dominance by crushing Utah 85-53 at home on Tuesday. The Aztecs made it look easy putting the Utes away by halftime, up 48-21.
Billy White and D.J. Gay led the Aztecs against Utah with 15 points apiece. Kawhi Leonard had a game-high 14 rebounds to lend a hand in the victory, as SDSU used their advantage in offensive rebounds to get off additional shots, while capitalizing on 15 Utah turnovers. 
Meanwhile, the Rebs put their loss to BYU behind them beating the TCU Horned Frogs in Mountain West play, 94-79. UNLV drained a ton of threes, shooting 64 percent from beyond the arc. The biggest highlight for Las Vegas was their 94 points, which was far better than their season average of 72.5.
Chace Stanback registered a team-leading 24 points while shooting a whopping 71 percent from the floor, 12 of that coming from three-point range. Quintrell Thomas contributed 10 big rebounds in the win.
SDSU is one of the best defensive teams in the NCAA, but can also bury their opponents offensively. Senior Malcolm Thomas leads the team with an impressive 54.2 shooting percentage while sophomore Kawhi Leonard leads all Aztecs in scoring at 14.9 points per game.
The last time these two teams met, the Aztecs won 55-49 in San Diego.
Matt’s Free Pick: San Diego State – While the Rebels are 9-3 at home with a win over No. 14 Wisconsin, the Aztecs are 8-1 on the road. It’s hard to go against a team allowing just 58.6 points a game, but with UNLV allowing just 61.9, it’s hard to make a pick on defense alone. This will come down to who has the most explosive offense, and that has to be San Diego.
