Even though they have made it all the way to the NIT finals I don’t think Alabama was snubbed by the NCAA selection committee.
This is a very solid defensive team with a good college power forward, that feasted on a relatively light SEC this year. Their recent run in the NIT is their most impressive stretch as they have been beating teams including New Mexico and Colorado who I thought would make the round of 68. In the NIT they are 3-1 ATS and have been favoured in every contest.
That isn’t the case tonight as they are a slight dog at +1. Even though it is a small number they have not been a good bet in this kind of situation going only 4-8 ATS as an underdog this season.
This tournament has featured a lot of close games including Bama’s 1 pointer over Colorado to get to this point. I am not sure we will see that in the finals. 
Wichita State was thought to be best bet to earn the Missouri Valley Conference’s bid to the big dance this season but they couldn’t get past those pesky Indiana State Sycamores and didn’t have enough quality wins to justify an at large bid in a down year for the MVC.
It really is too bad because these guys were really close a couple of times, losing to Final Four participants Connecticut and Virginia Commonwealth by a combined 5 points. The Shockers go an amazing 10 deep with that many averaging more than 10 minutes per game. They can be a hard team to gameplan for because they are very unselfish and don’t have a marquee player to define their opponent’s defensive play.
Like Alabama they are 3-1 ATS on their run to the NIT finals. There are not any systems or trends that are helpful in figuring them out for this one, but they are the better team in my opinion.
