Cincinnati vs. (11) Connecticut CBB Gambling Free Picks & Preview

NCAA Basketball Betting – Bearcats vs Huskies

The Cincinnati Bearcats will look to gain ground on Big East leaders Syracuse with a rare win at No. 11 Connecticut on Wednesday night.

Date/Time: 7:00 PM ET, Wednesday, January 18, 2012
Venue: Harry A. Gampel Pavilion, Storrs, Connecticut
Broadcast: ESPN2
Spread: OFF
Over/Under: OFF

Cincy has only won two of the nine contests between these two teams in the past three decades, but will enter this one with an overall record of 14-14 including 4-1 in conference.

The Bearcats have walked away with wins in nine of their last 10, and survived an early offensive onslaught to edge Villanova 82-78 on Saturday at Fifth Third Arena.

The game came down to a big separation in turnover margin and a somewhat smaller advantage in assists with 16 assists from Cincinnati.

The Bearcats also managed the ball very well, only turning it over three times, and were led by senior guard Dion Dixon, the team’s second leading scorer, who put up the most points against the Wildcats with 22 on 36 percent shooting from the floor in 34 minutes, including 12 points in threes. It was Dixon’s 6th 20-point game of his career

Cashmere Wright had a game-high six steals to lend a hand in the victory. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Meanwhile, the Huskies moved up for spots in the rankings after turning it up a notch on the road and ending Notre Dame’s 29-game home winning streak with a 67-53 in conference victory last weekend.

The Huskies won by a wider-than expected margin and captured a their first win over the Irish since 2010, after falling 0-2 against Notre Dame last season.

UConn did a good job with its defensive rebounding and free throw shooting in this one and have now won two in a row and 8 of their last 10 games.

Rebounding has been solid for the Huskies both offensively and defensively as they are ranked 5th the Big East in both. They pulled down 29 defensive boards compared to only 16 for Notre Dame, and that combined with their excellent free throw shooting (ranked No. 2 in the Big East), sinking 15 from the charity stripe compared to the five for the Fighting Irish, made the difference.

Sophomore guard Shabazz Napier scored a team-best 16 points in while Andre Drummond continued his domination on the boards, to lead everyone with 13 rebounds.

Free Pick: UConn-The Huskies are 10-1 at home, and seeing that the Bearcats top scoring defense struggled to contain the worst shooting team in the conference in their last outing, I think this one goes to the Huskies.
