Kansas Jayhawks Predictions: 2010 CBB Future Lines

Quick article by The Wiesguy detailing the KU Jayhawks 2010 Season win total odds for over under NCAA Basketball betting futures and a season wins prediction…

NCAA Basketball Season Preview:  Kansas Jayhawks (Big 12)

Hey there folks. NCAA Basketball gambling season is right around the corner and we’ve got your back with tons of great college basketball handicapping articles to help you become the best basketball betting expert on your block in the 2010/11 NCAA Hoops season and beyond.

They may not generate headlines like other programs but every year Kansas is in the discussion of national title contenders.  Last year they were among the preseason favourites but were cut down to size by Northern Iowa despite having a team stocked with NBA talent.  You could argue that no team in the country lost as much when Cole Aldrich, Sherron Collins and Xavier Henry left the program.

But Kansas always has great depth and this year’s version is lurking should any of the top teams stumble.  They may only be ranked in the teens in the preseason but with the Morris twins and a host of other experienced players this group will be no easy out.  Especially if Josh Shelby is permitted to suit up right away (currently his eligibility is being questioned).

This team should do at least as well as last year’s but with lower expectations.

Additions

Josh Shelby – Ranked as the #1 recruit by some will make an impact at lead guard if he is permitted to play.
Royce Woolridge – A very good range shooter with NBA bloodlines (Orlando Woolridge).

Subtractions

Sherron Collins – The heart and soul of the team as well as their leading scorer.
Cole Aldrich – Disappointed last year but was still a presence especially on defense and on the backboards.
Xavier Henry – One and done frosh wasn’t all that was expected in my opinion.

Key Players

Marcus Morris – Most reliable returning player scores and rebounds.
Tyshawn Taylor – It is his team to run now that Collins is gone.  He needs to improve his consistency.
Josh Selby – An expected one and done player who can make this team more special.

Surprising Stat – It is well known that Kansas can run with the best of them ranking #1 in the Big 12 in scoring at 81ppg but they also ranked #1 on defense allowing only 64ppg.  It is rare that a team achieves both because of the talent and discipline involved.

Strengths – The strength of this team is in the backcourt.  In addition to Taylor and Selby they also have great shooters in Tyrel Reed and Brady Morningstar.  These spot up guys can bury you in a hurry as they will not hesitate to shoot a three in transition.

Weaknesses – The Jayhawks are a little thin inside this season.  The Morris twins play tough but they are only 6’8″ and there are only two players bigger on the roster 6’9″ sophomore Thomas Robinson and fellow soph 7’0″ Jeff Withey will have to give them quality minutes or this team might be overpowered.

Post Season – Definitely another tournament for the folks in Lawrence but this squad doesn’t have final four potential.

Championship odds 20/1

Projected wins 25-27

Apparently both Morris twins have grown since last year. Mk Morris is listed as 6 10 and M Morris is listed as 6 9. KU 2011 37-0!
Keep up the good work.
Corey
