Florida Gators Predictions: 2010 CBB Future Lines

Quick article by The Wiesguy detailing the Florida Gators 2010 Season win total odds for over under NCAA Basketball betting futures and a season wins prediction…

NCAA Basketball Season Preview:  Florida Gators (SEC)

Hey there folks. NCAA Basketball gambling season is right around the corner and we’ve got your back with tons of great college basketball handicapping articles to help you become the best basketball betting expert on your block in the 2010/11 NCAA Hoops season and beyond.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Gators ruled the basketball world.  They won back to back championships with a strong collection of talent but coach Billy Donovan’s teams have sputtered since that group left campus.  This season offers the most hope since that 2007 championship team.

The source of that hope is the return of 5 starters including an all senior frontcourt of Alex Tyus, Vernon Maclin and Chandler Parsons.  Given the state of the SEC there is no reason why the Gators can’t win the conference and do some damage in the tournament.  If they don’t do it this season it might be a while before they are good again.

This team has at least two tournament wins in them…maybe more.

Additions

Patric Young – An aggressive frosh who can spell anyone on the front line.
Scottie Wilbekin – Likely third guard who might be their best option at the point.

Subtractions

Dan Werner – Their top reserve forward will not be missed much.

Key Players

Kenny Boynton – Highly touted player who shoots way too much.  With better shot selection he could be player of the year in the conference.
Alex Tyus – Put off going pro to come back to Gainsville.  He is a tireless worker with some room to grow his game.
Chandler Parsons – The Gators most versatile player.  At 6’9″ the team operates smoothest when he is playing point forward.

Surprising Stat – 5 – The number of starters returning for the Gators this year.  In this day and age it is almost unheard of for a team to return so many contributors from the year before, especially in a power conference.  This could either be really beneficial or we will be asking ourselves a lot what is wrong with these guys throughout the season.

Strengths – Building on the stat above the Gators great strength is experience.  They return all their starters from a team that made the tournament last year after a couple of years on the outside.  This team has been showing incremental improvement for a while and now is the time for a leap.

Weaknesses – In a word…Shooting.  These guys, especially the guards, never regret shooting the ball.  Unfortunately they are not great from the field or 3 point range.  With their experienced frontcourt they should be working for easy shots instead of jacking it up from all over the court.  They need to be more disciplined.

Post Season – For sure, maybe even a couple of wins.  Depending on matchups

Championship Odds 20/1

Projected wins 25
