Washington (12-41) had dropped seven of eight, coming into their Wednesday night match up with Indiana, following a 112-98 loss to the Bucks in their prior outing.

And even though the Wiz still wasn’t winning early in the season, what they were doing was putting up respectable numbers. Something they haven’t been doing of late, failing to reach the 100 mark in any of the last eight games.

The only plus side to that scenario, was that none of the Wizards’ opponents had reached the century mark either, until Monday against Milwaukee.

To compound Washington’s woes, center Nene and forward Trevor Booker have each missed the last two games and are still listed day-to-day. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Not a good situation as they face a Pistons team that is surging at the right time, and is stacked with a big strong frontcourt that has guided them to four wins in their last five including a 102-95 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday at the Palace. A place where they are now 8-2 in their last 10 home games.

Detroit had a 56-30 advantage in points in the paint, while big Ben Wallace became the fourth active player with 7,000 defensive rebounds.

Greg Monroe led the scoring with 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Ben Gordon scored 18 as Detroit finished with a very good 56.6 percent shooting performance.

Gordon, who also had seven assists and six rebounds, in his first game back after missing three games with a sore groin.

Free Pick: Detroit–Washington is just awful, and with simply will not be able to match up with Detroit’s size and strength. Hang on for a blowout here.
