Any teams that doubles its win output over the previous season has got to feel pretty good about itself, but the Nets – who went from 12 victories in last year’s disaster of a season to 24 this year – don’t quite look at it that way. Two wins and 14 losses over the final month of the season (heading into tonight’s Hail Mary in Chicago) can do that to you. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

New Jersey and its rich Russian owner figured it had turned a corner when it traded for Utah point guard Deron Williams. But Williams hasn’t panned out much better than Devon Harris, who went to the Jazz in that deal along with talented young big Derrick Favors. The Nets also threw in two No. 1 draft choices. It didn’t help when Williams suffered an injured wrist and was lost for a season a few weeks back.

Making matters even worse is the fact that Williams, whom the Nets want to build around and become the face of the franchise, has not shown that he has any interest in signing a long-term deal and staying with the team, which will be moving to Brooklyn in a few years. Losing D-Will would be a public relations disaster for the Nets, who just can’t seem to catch a break as they maneuver to scratch and claw their way to relevance in an Eastern Conference that seems to be getting better and better.

NBA Trends:

NJ are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Central.
Over is 6-2 in NJ last 8 overall.
Over is 10-4 in NJ last 14 Wed. games.
Over is 6-2 in CHI last 8 Wed. games.
CHI are 21-10 ATS in their last 31 games overall.
Home team is 14-5 ATS in the last 19 meetings.

BEST BET: Chicago is virtually invincible at home and needs this one to keep pace with San Antonio for home-court edge throughout the playoffs. New Jersey is 5-35 on the road this season. You do the math. Chicago clamps down defensively and keeps this one easily stays under 194.
