While rosters aren’t yet complete with the draft still upcoming and free agency potentially changing the basketball landscape, this is the time that bettors with the ability to predict what is forthcoming can find the best value.

Here are five teams worthy of taking a closer look at when putting money down on 2016 NBA title odds.

Cleveland Cavaliers 3/1

LeBron James put a Cavaliers roster made up of spare parts on his back and carried that group to within two games of a title. While Kevin Love figures to move on, Kyrie Irving will be back, and the team will have the ability to add another big piece in the offseason.

In LeBron’s go around with the Miami Heat, the team lost in the NBA Finals in year one, tinkered with the roster that offseason, then went on to win back-to-back titles. The kind of greatness that LeBron displayed in this past Finals will attract more talent to Cleveland, just like it did in Miami.

With the Eastern Conference in shambles, and no legitimate No. 2 has emerged, leaving the Cavaliers’ path to the Finals clear.

Oklahoma City Thunder 7/1

The Thunder endured plenty of injury woes this past season, so it’s easy to overlook how good they can be when healthy. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will both be healthy in time for next year’s title run, and when those two are on the court together, the Thunder have the talent to contend with anyone.

Another year of development from the team’s young complimentary players coupled with all of the extra playing time they got this past year, plus any moves made in free agency to supplement that core will have the Thunder back in the title hunt in no time.

Houston Rockets 18/1

The Rockets’ front office may not always be making headlines for the right reasons, but that group has made all the right moves when it comes to building the team’s roster. After making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals this past season, another tweak or two to the team’s roster – or possibly a coaching change – could be enough to put the team over the top.

James Harden has really embraced the role of go-to player, and a full year of a healthy Dwight Howard can only help the team in its quest to get inside the top-4 spots in the Western Conference.

Memphis Grizzlies 25/1

Few teams have been as consistently in the thick of things in the Western Conference as the Grizzlies. Ever since the team revamped its front office with a more analytical focus, Memphis has been a threat.

Assuming the team brings Marc Gasol back, the team will continue to feed off its two dominant big men inside and use their ability to limit the opposition’s scoring to get right back into position to win the West.

Milwaukee Bucks 100/1

Making the move right from the court onto the sideline, Jason Kidd has proven himself more than capable of guiding a strong team. A curious midseason trade took some wind out of the team’s sails during the regular year, but the foundation is still there for the Bucks to go right back to being a strong defensive team.

[dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Rumors are that the team will be aggressively shopping to acquire a strong defensive big man to solidify things in the middle. Getting Jabari Parker back from injury and adding another key piece through the draft will mean a solid influx of talent on the roster.
