Is Derrick Rose the MVP of the league this season? Hard to argue otherwise. He is on the best team in an Eastern Conference that also includes Boston (Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett), Miami (LeBron James/Dwyane Wade) and Orlando (Dwight Howard). He averages 25.1 points a game even though every team gears its defense to stopping him.

Every Bulls possession that doesn’t involve an opponent turnover followed by a fast break starts with the ball in Rose’s hands. He is in the top 10 in the league in assists.

Howard? Too immature, too volatile. James? You haven’t been watching too closely. Kobe Bryant? Ok, but he doesn’t have Rose’s freshness.

Can a team that relies on its point guard for scoring win an NBA title? It’s been done. The Chauncey Billups-led Pistons stunned the Lakers in 2004, employing a stifling defense that is similar to the one that Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau has crafted in Chicago. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

The late-1980s Pistons relied on Isiah Thomas to supply offense, and the 2001 76ers made it to The Finals with Allen Iverson doing most of the damage. Not easy, but there is precedcent.

Chicago needs four wins in its final 6 games to lock up the No. 1 seeding in the East and a soft landing in the first round against Indiana while the Bostons, Miamis and Orlandos have tougher battles on their hands. After that, who knows? But right now, at least, the Bulls are sitting pretty.

NBA Trends:

Under is 7-1 in PHO last 8 vs. NBA Central.
Over is 11-2 in PHO last 13 Tue. games.
Over is 6-2 in PHO last 8 overall.
CHI are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 Tue. games.
Over is 8-1 in CHI last 9 overall.
CHI are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. NBA Pacific.
Under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Chicago.

BEST BET: There are lots of off-season decisions to make it Phoenix, where the Suns have played themselves out of playoff contention. Do they move their only draw, Steve Nash, while he has gas still in the tank? What of Grant Hill and Vince Carter?

This much is certain – if they bring back the same players next year, they’ll fade into near oblivion.

There is just not enough talent on the roster. There is no line on this game as of this morning due to the uncertain availability of injured Chicago center Joakim Noah (sprained ankle).
