It took seven-eighths of the season to get there, but the Miami Heat have finally overtaken the Boston Celtics. The standings will tell you that the teams are each 51-22, but the reality of the situation is that Boston is leaking oil and appears disinterested as it heads toward the playoffs, while the Heat are navigating the soft underbelly of their schedule – tonight’s game at Cleveland will be followed by one-sided battles against Washington, Minnesota, New Jersey and Milwaukee.

At about 10 p.m. Eastern time Miami will have passed the Celtics.

So while it may be premature to anoint the Heat with the No. 2 playoff seed, especially considering the Miami’s tendency to become distracted and bored, with five straight wins and eight victories in the last nine games, things are looking up at last. If Miami can hold off Boston for the second seed, it probably will set up an All-Ego first-round playoff series against Amare, Carmelo and the underachieving and slip-sliding Knicks.

If everyone holds serves, the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs will be fun – Chicago vs. Boston and Orlando vs. Miami.

Tonight’s game is Miami’s second trip back to Cleveland, and this time Cavs fans don’t figure to be anywhere near as pissed off at LeBron James. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

A 14-58 record – worst in the NBA – will take the fight out of any fan base, and with loss No. 59 on the near horizon, Cleveland fans who choose to attend the game will just sit there and take it, one day closer to the NBA Lottery.

NBA Trends:

MIA are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 Tue. games.
Over is 12-5 in MIA last 17 road games.
MIA are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Under is 10-1 in CLE last 11 overall.
CLE are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games.
MIA are 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

BEST BET: Everything that is wrong and despicable about the Heat was on display in their last game against Houston, when Miami forced the ball to Chris Bosh in the final seconds to help get him his 30th point, thus making the Bosh-James-Wade trio the first in 50 years to go for at least 30 points and 10 rebounds each in a regular season game.

As if we needed one more thing to make us throw up when we see the Heat. Anyway, Miami should laugh its way to a cover against Cleveland.

The Cavs had trouble at home with a Hawks team which has stopped even making a pretense of trying, so the Heat should roll.
