Four solid teams on the TNT doubleheader tonight. A look at each team as the NBA season reaches the quarter pole:

SAN ANTONIO (21-3) – Veteran teams like Boston and San Antonio often start strong, but no one figured on this. Prevailing wisdom was that the Spurs were trying to get one more rodeo out of Tim Duncan, but the bench has played so well that Gregg Popovich can monitor Duncan’s minutes (28 a game) and keep him fresh.

Manu Ginobili seems to have overcome a rash of injuries and leads the team in scoring.

But besides depth, the key so far has been the improved play of Richard Jefferson. Jefferson seemed lost at times last season but has found his game this year, and his statstics are up across the board. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

DENVER (15-9) – The Nuggets seem resigned to having to having to trade Carmelo Anthony and get something for him rather than let him bolt in free agency this summer, so what you see now isn’t anything close to what you’ll see after a deal.

After Anthony the Denver roster is filled with OK players who’ll give it a go every night, but no team can replace 24 points a game with two 12-point scorers and live to tell about it. Denver had hoped that Ty Lawson would be further along by this point in his career, but his numbers are slightly down from his rookie season and the kid can’t make a free throw to save his life.

Anthony leaving might free up more minutes for him.

TNT NBA Gambling Trends:

San Antonio is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
San Antonio is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games on the road
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of San Antonio’s last 5 games when playing Denver
The total has gone UNDER in 13 of San Antonio’s last 18 games when playing on the road against Denver
Denver is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Denver’s last 5 games when playing San Antonio
Denver is 9-3 SU in its last 12 games
The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Denver’s last 18 games when playing at home against San Antonio

Best bets: Boston has lost only four games this season, but much of the damage has been done in the rear end of back-to-back games.

The Celtics are 3-2 straight up in the second game when they have played on consecutive nights, and ATS the record is 2-3.

So be careful of a big play on Boston, especially considering that Rondo, Garnett, Piece and Allen played a combined 152 minutes in an emotional game in New York Wednesday night.

The Spurs are in the same boat, hitting the road after a grinder at home against Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Liking Atlanta (small) and Denver (bigger) on separate plays.
