Matchup: MAGIC vs. HEAT

Time: Thursday 8 ET
Venue: America Airlines Arena, Miami
Spread: Orlando -4
Over/Under: 200.5

The clock is ticking and Dwyane Wade may have only five dozen or so more regular season games with Miami before jumping head-first into the free agent pool this coming summer along with the likes of LeBron James and Chris Bosh. Speculation has Wade eyeing a return to his hometown of Chicago, but no one really knows and neither Wade nor his entourage are talking.

In the meantime, fans in South Florida should enjoy him while they have him, and Wade gets a chance to impress possible suitors on national TV tonight when the Heat take on the Magic in Miami.

Orlando, which won and covered last night in Indiana, is only 2-2 in the second game of back-to-backs this season and dropped ground in the Eastern Conference with losses in Utah and Phoenix last week. And Miami has played Orlando tough over the last few seasons. Last year the teams split four games, and the Heat won in Orlando last month.

Miami has been an average team since the start of the 2008-09 season, and the Heat have to do a better job of protecting their home court before they can consider gaining any traction against the Orlandos, Bostons, Clevelands and Atlantas.

One positive: Wade is starting to get scoring help from forward Michael Beasley, who had 28 points and 11 boards in a blowout win over Toronto two nights ago.
One negative: The Heat can’t cover against good teams at home – they are 7-21 ATS in their last 28 in home games against winning teams.

Matchup: SUNS vs. TRAIL BLAZERS

Time: Thursday 10:30 ET
Venue: Rose Garden Arena, Portland
Spread: Portland -2.5
Over/Under: 201

With Shaquille O’Neal no longer dragging his ample rear end up and down the court, the Suns can floor it again, and Portland will be trying to do just the opposite.Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook The Blazers’ idea of an offense is 20 seconds of dribbling, followed by a Brandon Roy jump shot. It’ll get the Blazers another first-round playoff exit, but on any given night Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge can make life tough for visitors to the Northwest.

Portland should have a sense of urgency in this one, because the Blazers will spend the next week in Florida (Orlando, Miami) and Texas (Dallas, San Antonio) before returning home on Christmas Day.

Roy, Aldridge and veteran point guard Andre Miller will have to shoulder the load as it looks like Greg Oden will be done for the rest of the season. Oden’s body is breaking down at every turn; this time it’s a broken kneecap.

If Phoenix – which plays its best ball against winning teams — can turn this game into its own version of the Millrose Games, the depleted Blazers have some problems.

THURSDAY NIGHT BEST NBA PARLAY BET:

Both of the O/U lines look a bit thin. Orlando may not be ready to dig in defensively two nights in a row, and Miami has no one with the talent or inclination to battle Dwight Howard. Portland is banged up and has fewer bodies to throw at the Suns.

Should be lots of points in both games.
