San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies Preview
Man, the Spurs got a little lucky in their Game 5 win needing a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to OT, but now they have some momentum heading to Memphis, who have to get over their heartbreaking loss. NBA lines have the Grizzlies as 3-point favorites in this game with a total of 189.5.
San Antonio won Game 5 110-103 in OT and Memphis covered the spread and the total went Over.
This season the Spurs are 44-40-3 ATS and the Grizzlies are 56-29-2 ATS. Not only have the Grizzlies been the best betting team in the NBA, but they have also covered the spread in all 5 games in this series. Memphis is 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games against San Antonio.
It will not be easy for Memphis to bounce back from having a win snatched out of their hands in Game 5 and in that game they played well shooting 47.1% from the floor and out-rebounding the Spurs 50-45. Zach Randolph was the high scorer for the Grizzlies with 26 points and 18 of them came in the 4th quarter and OT. The backcourt duo of Sam Young and Mike Conley also played well combining for 38 points.
A few players that must play better for Memphis in Game 6 is Marc Gasol, who in Game 5 did grab 17 rebounds and score 11 points, but only on 5/14 shooting and Shane Battier and O.J. Mayo, who provide offense off the bench, but only combined to score 15 points in Game 5.
The Spurs got great games from their big 3 of Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, combining for 57 points, and Tim Duncan, who scored 13 points with 12 rebounds. Ginobili hit on 4/9 of his 3-pointers and overall the Spurs shot 45.9% from the floor.
Playing good D on Ginobili is key for the Grizzlies, as the Spurs are 8-0 in the playoffs when he scores at least 30 points.
I think the Spurs are back in this series and they will play physical again and their big 3 will have another good game. The Spurs will win this game to even the series heading home for a Game 7.
