NBA Betting – Thunder Rolling As Kings Visit

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings are at two opposite ends of the spectrum right now. Literally.

The Thunder have won 11 of their last 13 games, are in prime playoff position and are chasing the Denver Nuggets for the Northeast Division lead.

Team records:
Sacramento: 20-39 SU, 28-29-2 ATS
Oklahoma City: 35-23 SU, 35-23 ATS
Betting Odds: Thunder listed as 10-point favorites
Next up: Sacramento at Houston, Wednesday, March 3, Oklahoma City at Denver, Wednesday, March 3

Meanwhile, the Kings have won just 11 of their last 43 games, they are far out from the playoffs and they are chasing the Golden State Warriors for the worst record in the Pacific Division.

This is a mismatch and as long as the Thunder aren’t caught looking ahead to Wednesday showdown with the Denver Nuggets, they’ll get the win handily.

What’s  Happening With The Kings

The Kings are a miserable team right now but there are still a couple of positives. They have won two straight games and the reality is that they are a better team without Kevin Martin in the lineup.

On the year, the Kings were just 2-18 with Martin in the lineup. Without him, they are 18-21 –  and 2-3 since trading him.

The Kings have a better team concept when he’s not around and while many people might be surprised to hear this, they actually have a good young core. With Tyreke Evans, Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson, there is a future. But right now, there isn’t much.

What’s  Happening With The Thunder

The Thunder have quietly become one of the best teams in the NBA. They have won11 of their last 13 games and they are just three games behind the Nuggets for the Northeast Division lead. They play the Nuggets on Wednesday, so if they can beat Sacramento and beat Denver, they could put themselves in very good position to be the No. 2 seed in the West.

The Thunder have been fantastic because of the growth of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green. Throw in some impressive defense from Thabo Sefolosha, a quality rookie in James Harden and some decent front lines with Nenad Krstic and Serge Ibaka, and this Thunder team is very complete.

Outlook & Pick

The Thunder aren’t going to lose this game but they have to make sure they don’t lose focus. Covering a big spread could be a tall order for this team because of their showdown with Denver looming and the fact that the Kings are playing better without Martin in the lineup. Expect a Thunder win but a Kings cover.

Pick: Kings +10
