Los Angeles (47-20, 33-34 ATS) has won nine of its past 10 games. The only loss came to the Heat, and the Lakers edged Dallas 96-91 on Saturday, ending a four-game road trip. Los Angeles has been almost as impressive against the spread; after covering against the Mavericks, the club is 8-2 in its last 10 games against the spread.

Andrew Bynum has been absolutely fantastic during the hot streak. While his scoring hasn’t been out of this world, Bynum is taking care of business on defense and on the glass. The young center is averaging 15.4 rebounds per game in his last five outings. He busted out for 22 points and 15 rebounds against Dallas, giving him three consecutive double-doubles.

With Bynum playing so well, it’s no surprise the Lakers “D” is wreaking havoc. The Lakers are allowing just 88.1 points per game over their past 10 outings. Only once in that span has an opponent scored 100-plus points, and L.A. has held six of its past 10 opponents to less than 90 points.

Orlando (42-25, 29-36-2 ATS) is 3-1 in its last four games. The Magic absolutely crushed Phoenix 111-88 on Sunday, the first time the clubs had met since their big trade a few months ago. While Orlando is finally building some momentum in the win column, the team is struggling on NBA odds. The Magic are 1-4 ATS in their past five games, though they covered against the Suns. The Magic are hoping two of this year’s in-season acquisitions are finally turning a corner. Hedo Turkoglu has scored in double figures in four straight games—impressive considering he just endured a five-game streak of scoring in single figures. Gilbert Arenas has also scored in double-figures in three straight outings; he scored 16 points against Phoenix and is shooting 48 percent from the field in his past four games.

Orlando might finally be hitting a rhythm. Unfortunately for the Magic, the Lakers have already found theirs. Los Angeles is getting fantastic defensive play while still threatening at the other end of the floor. Take L.A.
