San Antonio at Utah – Jazz Try to Kick a Slump

The San Antonio Spurs travel to Utah to take on a Jazz team still playing without their top scorer from last season, Carlos Boozer. The Spurs have become the same old Spurs, that is a winning team, after digging themselves into a hole earlier this season. They are currently 29 and 14 straight-up. After the Los Angeles Lakers, the Spurs have one of the better records in the Western Conference. Their sports betting against the spread record of 19-23 leaves something to be desired but they do have a decent NBA betting against the spread record on the road of 10 and 9.

Utah is winning games because of the excellent point-guard play from Derron Williams and their terrific frontcourt of Paul Millsap and Mehmet Okur. The Jazz have fallen on tough times lately, losing three games in a row, but they still have a winning straight-up record of 25 and 20. Their last loss to the Denver Nuggets by 20 points on the road, could be a sign that the lack of Boozer’s inside game is finally getting to this team. Or, they could just be in a slump. Their record of 12 and 10 against the spread at home is a winning one but it’s far worse than what the Jazz usually do against the spread at home.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game.

San Antonio Spurs +2 -110 +115 O 193 -110
Utah Jazz -2 -110 -135 U 193 -110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game.

The San Antonio Spurs are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games playing on 1 day of rest.
The San Antonio Spurs are 1 and 5 against the spread in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Utah.
The Utah Jazz is 10 and 3 against the spread in their last 13 games playing on one day of rest.
The Utah Jazz is 0 and 5 against the spread in their last 5 games overall.

The Jazz will have to turn things around big time in order to beat the Spurs in Utah but I believe they will do it. The key in this game will be the play of Okur and Millsap on Tim Duncan in the paint. Derron Williams has the ability to stick with Tony Parker in the backcourt. That means that Okur and Millsap will have to hold their own against the future hall of famer.

If they can keep Duncan from grabbing rebound after rebound off the glass, then they can go ahead and take it to the big man on the offensive side of the court. By making Duncan work, the Jazz can set things up for Ronnie Brewer and Williams can get his shot off.

I also expect to see Williams take Parker on the blocks during the entire game.

Utah should be able to end their losing streak both straight-up and against the spread tonight because they are playing a team that they match up very well against.

I’m going to make an online basketball bet on the Utah Jazz to beat the San Antonio Spurs and to cover the -2 against the spread line in this game.
