NBA Preview: Nets vs. Lakers

The Lakers host the Nets in a game that at one time might have meant something to NBA fans. Not any more. We preview and pick this NBA Hoops matchup…

Vince Carter, Nets visit Kobe and Pau in LA

The Lakers host the Nets in a game that at one time might have meant something to NBA fans. Not any more. The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA with a straight-up record of 11 and 1 and an against the spread record of 8 and 4. Sports betting fans have already decided that the Lakers are the best online basketball betting team in the NBA right now.

They rarely lose which means they often times cover online wagering spreads. With Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, it makes sense that this team is very, very good.

The New Jersey Nets aren’t a horrible team, but they aren’t exactly one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference either. They have garnered a 6 and 6 straight-up record and a record of 7 and 5 against the BetUS Sportsbook wagering spread. The problem that the Nets are going to have in this game is that they just don’t have the firepower that the Lakers have. It’s going to be difficult to keep pace with Los Angeles.

Here are my personal online sportsbook betting odds for this game:

New Jersey Nets + 9 ½ – 110 + 350 O 196 ½ – 110
Los Angeles Lakers – 9 ½ – 110 – 450 U 196 ½ – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:

The New Jersey Nets are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games on the road.
The New Jersey Nets are 7-20-1 against the spread in their last 28 games versus a team from the Western Conference.
The Los Angeles Lakers are 2 and 5 against the spread in their last 7 games after 1 day of rest.
The Los Angeles Lakers are 13 and 6 against the spread in their last 19 games on a Tuesday night.

So what’s the deal with this game? Not much. The Lakers will be heavy favorites while the Nets will be totally underrated in this game. Or, will they?

The bottom line is that Los Angeles is a much better team. They have the better offense and better defense and will be playing at home in front of their fans. To me, this has the makings of a blow-out. I just don’t see the Lakers not covering in this game.

Nets vs. Lakers Prediction:

I’m hoping that the BetUS odds makers do me a favor and make the Los Angeles Lakers a favorite of no more than 9 ½. If that happens, then I’m going with Los Angeles in this game. They should cover an online betting spread like that.
