Cappers Picks NBA Power Rankings – December 6

2013 NBA Handicapping

The NBA season is in full swing and some interesting contenders are already emerging – some new and some totally unforeseen. [ad-4468020]

The cream is already starting to rise to the top – let’s take a look. As always if your looking for NBA Odds Click this sportsbook link. ([dfads params=’groups=63740&limit=1&return_javascript=0′])

Trail Blazers – the Blazers have beaten the Pacers and the thunder the last week taking them to the top of the Rankings. They have won 13 of their last 14 games and are definitely the hottest team in the league right now.

Pacers – The Pacers have just two losses on the season – both on the road against quality opponents – the Bulls and the Trail Blazers. This team fights hard every night and the record is further proof.

Heat – Had a 10 game win streak end earlier this week but the Heat are still the Heat. Losses to the Nets, Sixers, Celtics and Pistons and the banged up Bulls keep the Heat out of top spot.

Spurs – The Spurs just keep clicking along – hard to doubt them. All the talk of this team being over-the-hill can cease – the Spurs have lost just 3 times this year and are perfect at home.

Thunder – lost in Portland Wednesday night after an impressive eight game win streak that included victories over Denver, San Antonio, Golden State and Minnesota. Russell Westbrook is rounding into form which helps this team immensely.

Nuggets – Had a six game win streak end earlier this week but they are beating some good teams so far this year and are 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. There is quite a drop-off after the top 5 and the Nuggets are the best of the second tier at the moment.

Mavericks – Have quietly won two games in a row to climb to four games over .500. They have a tough week ahead but at the moment they are a top 10 team.

Rockets – Not many people are talking about the Rockets and they have lost two straight – to the Jazz and the Suns. But they are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are maybe the biggest threat to all of the top 5.

Clippers – The Clippers should be a top 5 team but they haven’t quite found their groove yet. They currently occupy the #4 seed in the West and have the talent to contend. We are still waiting for them to put it all together however.

Warriors – The Warriors started strong but have come back down to earth a little bit – coincidentally at the same time Andre Iguodala went down with a bad hammy. They are still a top 10 team in the Rankings but barely.

Wizards – The Wiz are just a .500 team but they do occupy the #3 seed in the East – incredible. They are hot right now – 7-3 in their last 10 games and are barely worthy of a place in my Dirty Dozen.

Grizzlies – Marc Gasol is out with a strained MCL which will hurt this team but this team has the talent to rise in the Rankings once they get their game in order.
