The San Antonio Spurs are off to the franchise’s fastest start after recording its 19th victory and fourth consecutive win at home with a 108-92 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Richard Jefferson and Manu Ginobili scored 18 points apiece, while Tony Parker added 17 points as the Spurs handed one of the hottest teams in the East just its second loss in nine games.

Parker is averaging 19.2 points at home, while Ginobili had been struggling averaging 12.8 points and 29.3 percent shooting in four games this month, but seems to have snapped out of the slump with his performance on Friday night.

The Spurs are relatively healthy, and a good balance offensively has keyed their current four-game win streak. At least five players have scored in double figures in each victory.

Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers who went 0-4 on their last trip, were looking to show improvement when it opened its four-game trip against Phoenix on Friday, and they did just that as Marcus Camby recorded a double double leading the Blazers with 16 points and 18 rebounds in 101-92 win over the struggling Suns.

Brandon Roy added 26 points as the team extended its win streak to four, while the Blazers got only 10 points from their bench.

The Blazers, one of the NBA’s worst shooting teams, shot 64 percent in the first half and led by as many as 17 to win their third straight over Phoenix, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season.

Next up comes the biggest challenge of the season — a visit to San Antonio against a Spurs team that has only lost three games this season—and a team the Blazers have done well against, winning five of the last six meetings.

Meanwhile, the Spurs Jefferson has been a pleasant surprise after an awful first year and helped the team to best an NBA-leading three-point shooting percentage (40.7) on Friday (47.6), going 3-for 6 from beyond the arc.

San Antonio is third in the league in scoring with 107.1 per game and is second in the NBA in assists per game with 24.0. Everyone is getting into the act including veteran guard Manu Ginolbili with 4.9 APG. The Argentinean sharp shooter is averaging 20 points per game with a team-high 2.5 from downtown.

As for the Blazers, they will hope Camby can continue his dominance inside, posting up hard on Tim Duncan who has always gotten the better result when the two have clashed in past meetings.

While Portland appears to have turned a corner and is playing well, the Spurs have dominated their opponents in just about every single statistical category and will be a tough opponent to beat at home, a place where they are outscoring their opponents by an average of nearly 16 points.
