NBA Picks: Pistons vs. Bulls Gambling Lines & Handicapping Preview

NBA Gambling: Detroit vs Chicago

The Detroit Pistons (29-46) take on the Chicago Bulls (45-30) tonight in an Eastern Conference match-up that doesn’t have much meaning. As always, visit Cappers Picks for our free NBA picks all season.

Chicago have already clinched the playoffs in the East and they won’t be able to catch the Cavaliers at this point, so this game really doesn’t matter to them. Detroit are completely out of the playoff race.

Detroit are 6-4 in their last 10 games, but they just lost last time out and they’re only 13-25 on the road all season. Chicago are 21-14 at home this season and come into this game on a 6-4 run in their last 10.

Greg Monroe is out for Detroit and Dinwiddie is a GTD. Hinrich and Rose are out and McDermott is a GTD for the Bulls tonight. Jackson and Drummond will have their hands full tonight.

Jackson has to go up against the pesky Brooks most of the game at PG. Brooks can pick up a lot of steals and he plays pretty good defense, so I expect the recent struggles of Jackson to continue in this one.

Drummond will have no problem out producing Noah, but Noah plays solid defense too and he can make it difficult on the big man. Noah isn’t going to score many points, but he’ll frustrate Drummond.

Butler has finally started playing like he was at the start of the season again. He has been knocking in lots of points – he has 18+ points in each of his last four games, plus he has played Detroit well.

These teams have played each other three times and the Pistons have a 2-1 series lead this season, which is a bit surprising. The home team has won all three games and the home side has covered ATS too.

Chicago covered a –9.5 spread early in the season at home, but Detroit have won two in a row. I don’t expect the Pistons to win this match-up, but the point spread has been set too high.

Detroit are scoring 98.2 PPG (20th) and allowing 99.7 PPG (15th), while Chicago scores 101.0 PPG (13th) and gives up 98.4 PPG (11th).

Both teams rank in the top 5 in rebounding, so no one will have an edge there.

Detroit aren’t going to make the playoffs, but they haven’t just tanked either. Detroit are still playing good basketball and they’ll be able to keep this game within single digits to cover the point spread.

Detroit Pistons +9 (-110)

Not having Monroe will hurt, as Gasol will be able to dominate at PF now, but the Pistons have enough talent at other positions to keep this game relatively close.
