NBA Picks: 76ers vs. Heat Gambling Lines & Handicapping Preview

NBA Gambling Line: Philadelphia vs Miami

This won’t be the most exiting game on the schedule tonight, but the Miami Heat (23-31) will look to keep a hold of 7th place in the East with a big home win over the Philadelphia 76ers (12-43).

The 76ers are 4-6 in their last ten games, which is the best run they’ve had this season, but the 76ers have come back down to reality with three straight losses. Miami has been playing real bad (3-7 in last 10).

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The 76ers ripped out the core from their team when they traded Carter-Williams and McDaniels at the trade deadline, but it wasn’t a bad move. This team needed picks and they weren’t going to pay MCW.

Miami has been in a terrible spell of form at the worst possible time. Chris Bosh is injured and now the team’s frontcourt is reliant on Whiteside who has been inconsistent and can’t stay healthy either.

The Heat also traded for Goran Dragic at the deadline and that was a great move. Miami was weak at PG, but now they have a legitimate starter in Dragic. They need Dragic to take control of this team.

Wade is great when he’s on the floor, but staying on the floor has been a problem. Wade is easily the most likely player in the NBA to be pulled out of a game early because of a nagging injury.

Dragic should really help distribute the basketball on offense, which is what Miami needs. The Heat are one of the worst scoring teams (93.1 PPG – 28th), but they rank 2nd in points allowed (96.6 PPG).

Miami is also terrible at rebounding (38.2 RPG – 30th) and passing (20.1 APG – 29th). Dragic will help this team in some categories, but he obviously can’t help the frontcourt loss of Bosh.

On paper, the 76ers score 90.1 PPG (30th), allow 100.7 PPG (22nd), grab 42.3 RPG (21st) and dish out 20.3 APG (27th). Nothing is above average and those numbers are only going to get worse now.

4* Free NBA Picks: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat

The 76ers are really lacking scoring options now and this team will be tough to bet on the rest of the way because it’ll be tough to handicap when this team will show up and when they won’t show up to play.

Philadelphia 76ers +11.5 (-110)

I’m rolling with the 76ers to cover although I don’t feel overly comfortable with them. Miami is just 9-16 at home, which is horrible. I can see them scraping out a victory, but they won’t win by double digits.

Covington and Noel are still on Philly and they can do some damage. The loss of Bosh is really going to hurt Miami as well and I don’t even expect them to make the playoffs at this point.
