The Orlando Magic aren’t the perfect team but they’re a pretty darned good one and we can expect them to win far more often than they lose most nights – hence them being favored by 5.5 points for a road matchup at Indiana.

Aside from a strange, embarrassing loss to Detroit their last time out, the Magic have been pretty reliable against weak teams they’re expected to pummel. They’re 5-0 against the spread over their last five games when favored by 5 to 10.5 points on the road. Dwight Howard continues to be a beast at both ends of the floor; he has three straight games with at least 20 points, 14 rebounds and one block.

One possible stumbling block tonight for the Magic could be fatigue. Tonight will mark their fourth game in six nights.

The struggling Pacers have lost five straight games and are surely thrilled to be heading home, as their last four losses all came on the road. Shooting has been a major problem for Indiana this season; the Pacers are 28th in the league at just 43.4 per cent from the field.

Danny Granger, who leads the Pacers with 21.2 points per game, is expected to play through his ankle injury tonight. Since he won’t be 100 per cent, the onus will fall on the supporting cast to step up. Big man Roy Hibbert endured illness and a brutal slump but has shown signs of coming out of it, averaging 11.5 points and eight rebounds over his last two games. Darren Collison shows flashes of brilliance in the backcourt but remains inconsistent. His points over the last five games: 10, 30, 14, 14, 5. You never know what you’re gonna get with him.

It’s tempting to call for a Pacer upset tonight. They’re finally back home and the Magic could be tired from their trip. But Indiana is just 10-10 in its own building this season and its go-to guys are all slumping, playing through pain or both. Stick with Orlando.
