Something has to give when two of the Association’s hotter teams clash tonight in Atlanta. The hosting Hawks have won seven of their last eight games (though they’re 1-3 ATS over their last four). Joe Johnson’s elbow injury really seems behind him now; he’s scored between 24 and 36 points in seven of Atlanta’s last eight games. 
The New Orleans Hornets seek their seventh straight victory tonight. Chris Paul’s offense has taken a step back this year but he still averages 9.7 assists and his 2.7 steals per game, showing the Hornets’ commitment to defense this season. They allow the second fewest points per game in the NBA this year.
If two streaking teams go head to head, maybe home court is the appropriate tiebreaker. The Hornets’ last four wins came against pushovers Memphis, Toronto, Charlotte and Houston. The Hawks in Atlanta will be a tougher challenge.
