Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angles Clippers NBA Preview & Free Pick

NBA Basketball Matchup: Denver Nuggets vs LA Clippers

Denver is coming off a heartbreaking loss against Memphis on Tuesday night. The Nuggets led all game, only to blow it at the end of regulation and then lose in overtime.

Denver actually led by nine in the fourth quarter, and then they led again by four in overtime before Memphis finished the game on a 7-0 run.

The Clippers are winners of three straight, including a win at Denver on Sunday. TNT will have national coverage of this Western Conference battle.

The Nuggets are 14-7 and having a very good season, but they have lost their last two contests. Denver has had the lead late in both of those games, but they simply haven’t been able to close out the game. One problem with this team is there is no true star and at the end of the game in a tight game, it’s always tough to know who they are trying to set up for a shot.

Danilo Gallinari is the team’s leading scorer so far this year, but he has been struggling with his shot of late.

Al Harrington has been on fire lately, and he has scored in double figures in nine of the team’s last ten games. Andre Miller and Rudy Fernandez helped give this team more depth in the backcourt.

Denver leads the league in scoring, but they need to improve on the defensive end.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Clippers have been the best team in Los Angeles so far this year. Chris Paul makes a huge difference for this squad.

Paul is shooting a career-best 50.8% from the floor and 44.7% from beyond the arc. Blake Griffin provided the best dunk of the year so far against Kendrick Perkins and the Thunder a few days ago.

Griffin is averaging 21.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Mo Williams has been a great addition to this team. Williams is knocking down an amazing 48% of his three-point attempts, and he is averaging 14.2 points per contest.

Caron Butler and Chauncey Billups give this team other very solid scoring options as well. Like the Nuggets, the Clippers need to work on their half court defense.

This should be a hard fought game, but the Clippers have shown the ability to close out games while the Nuggets have not.

I think the Clippers win this one in the fourth quarter.

Prediction: Clippers 103 Nuggets 97
