NBA Betting – Battle of the LeBron hopefuls in New York City

Sports betting players are waiting to see where LeBron James ends up this summer, but not half as much as New York and New Jersey, two of the main teams figured to be in the “King James sweepstakes”. The two lowly tri-state teams will meet on Saturday night in venerable Madison Square Garden, and both will be in the second half of back-to-back games.

Nets vs Knicks odds – Saturday, March 6, 7:30 PM ET

The Nets (6-54 as of Friday) will be at home against Orlando on Friday night before making the short trip to New York City, but on Wednesday, they got an up-close-and-personal look at James in a 111-92 loss in Cleveland. Brook Lopez tried his best to keep the Nets in it, going for 21 points and 14 rebounds, while rookie Terrance Williams came off the bench to drop 21 points for the Nets, who shot just 39.3% from the field, while the Cavs shot 51.8% and held a 46-39 edge on the glass. The Nets put up a good fight, as they have all year, but James had 26 points, 14 assists and seven boards, and New Jersey simply can’t compete with that, especially on the road.

The Knicks (21-39 as of Friday), will be in Toronto on Friday, and they also got lit up by James this week, falling 124-93 in Cleveland on Monday. But the Knicks bounced back for a 128-104 win over Detroit at home on Wednesday, led by Al Harrington’s 26 points. David Lee had 21 points and 18 boards, while Bill Walker hit a career-high 22 points for the Knicks, who shot 55.3% from the field, and they nailed 12 three-pointers in the contest. Sports Betting at the SportsbookDefense is the key to the Knicks’ bookmaker odds (bookmaker reviews), as they are 7-32 when the opposition scores 100 points or more.

We know the Knicks can score, they just can’t stop anyone, and don’t care to.

The Knicks should be favored at home, given that the Nets are 3-27 on the road this season. One of the Nets’ six victories came against the Knicks in their last meetings as they beat New York 104-95 at home on December 30th, but the Knicks have still won two of three against the Nets this year. Chris Douglas-Roberts has averaged 22.3 points in those three games, while Harrington (22.7 points, 10.3 rebounds) and Lee (21.3 points, 12.0 boards) are both putting up a double-double against the Nets.

The Knicks will try to make this a track meet, and this is also their first meeting with the Nets with Tracy McGrady in the lineup. He played a high of 34 minutes against the Pistons, and that’s good news for Knicks fans.
