Hawks at Jazz: Utah among league’s hottest teams on NBA odds

NBA betting fans can watch one of the league’s hottest teams when the Utah Jazz hit the floor tonight. Utah is hosting the Atlanta Hawks, who are trying to snap out of their funk. Can the underdog Hawks get the job done?

Team records:
Atlanta: 34-20 SU, 33-21 ATS
Utah: 36-19 SU, 34-18-3 ATS

Matchup: Hawks at Jazz
Time: 9:00 p.m. ET
Venue: EnergySolutions Arena
Spread: Utah -5.5
Over/Under: 197.5

The hometown Jazz (36-19, 33-18-3 ATS) are favorites after winning 17 of their last 19 games, including four straight. Utah has been very kind to bettors on NBA odds too, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games against the spread while covering four consecutive games. The Jazz have been equally as effective at home, posting a 6-2-2 record in their past 10 games at EnergySolutions Arena.

Utah’s seventh-ranked offense relies on a number of players to carry the load. It’s not uncommon to see a different player lead the stat sheet on a nightly basis; Carlos Boozer tops the team at 19.4 points per game (he also leads his teammates in rebounding at 11.2 per outing). Following closely behind is point guard Deron Williams, who’s cranking out 18.3 points and 9.9 assists per night. Mehmet Okur, Andrei Kirilenko and Paul Millsap are also scoring in double figures. Check Kirilenko’s status, though—he’s dealing with back spasms. Defensively, the Jazz are 12th at 97 points per game; they’ve held their opponents to less than 100 points in six straight.Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Atlanta (34-20, 33-20 ATS) has hit a rough patch, losing three of its last four games—with two of those losses coming on the road. The Hawks haven’t faired any better against the spread; they’re 4-6 ATS in their past 10 outings with three losses in their past four games. When travelling, Atlanta has covered just twice in its last seven games.

Despite ranking 10th in points scored this season, Atlanta has struggled to put the ball in the hoop during the slump. In two of the losses the team averaged a paltry 78 points per game. Like Utah, the Hawks can hurt you with a variety of weapons; Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith are all averaging at least 15 points per game (Johnson leads the team at 21.6 PPG). At the other end of the floor, Atlanta has been just as strong as the Jazz. Opponents have scored at least 100 points just once in seven games against the Hawks.

Utah has topped Atlanta seven of the last 10 times they’ve met, including a 6-4 record against the spread. The Hawks have won and covered the past two meetings, however.

THE PICK

Everything points in Utah’s favor: they’ve won 17 of 19, they’re playing very well against the spread, they dominate at home and Atlanta is struggling. Bet on the Jazz.
