San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Preview

On the season the Spurs are 5-6 ATS and they have an O/U record of 2-9 and the Timberwolves are 5-5 ATS and they have an Under record of 7-3.

This season the Timberwolves are 2-1 at home and the Spurs are 4-3 on the road.

In their last games the Spurs beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 92-90 and the Timberwolves beat the New York Knicks 115-99.

The Timberwolves are coming off a great offensive performance where they scored 115 points in a win over the Knicks, but tonight at home they are a big 8-point underdog facing a Spurs’ team that has won 2 straight and beak King James and the Cavs in their last game.

The win over the Knicks snapped Minnesota’s 5-game losing streak.

Both teams are really banged up, but the Timberwolves are still without their floor leader in PG Ricky Rubio, who is out with a sprained ankle.

The T-Wolves have played well on offense this season, but their defense has killed them this season, as they rank 29th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

After a slow start the defending champion Spurs have won 5 of their last 6 games.

Kevin Martin went for 37 points in the win over the Knicks and overall they hit on 11 of their 22 3-pointers. However, they play a solid San Antonio defense that ranks #1 in the league and is holding opponents to a FG% of under 30% from beyond the 3-point arc.

Boris Dia stepped up in the Cleveland win and he and Tim Duncan scored 19 points each in the game. Tony Parker leads the Spurs in scoring and Kawhi Leonard (12.6 ppg) has played well as of late after a sluggish start.

Nikola Pekovic is one of the T-Wolves that is injured and his loss is a big one not only because he is the 3rd leading scorer, but he leads the team in rebounding.

2nd leading scorer Thaddeus Young is also out and the T-Wolves will need several guys to step up on offense since they likely can’t count on their D.
