The Thunder will look to secure their second straight playoff berth with a win over the visiting Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night on ESPN.

The Thunder has won eight of its last nine including three of four at home with a 111-103 win over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.

Kevin Durant scored 23 points and Oklahoma City needed a fourth-quarter surge to maintain their grip on fourth place in the Western Conference, as they rapidly close in on the franchise’s first division title since relocating from Seattle.

Seven Thunder players scored in double figures, including Nick Collison, James Harden and Nazr Mohammed off the bench. A trend that will need to continue as the team has plenty of work remaining. With 11 games left in the regular season, Oklahoma City is up five games on second-place Denver in the loss column, and cannot afford to drop any games to close out that stretch.

It will all begin on Sunday when the Trail Blazers head out on their final extended road trip of the regular season on a high after a 98-96 come-from-behind victory over the team with the NBA’s best record – the San Antonio Spurs. Portland has won five of six and is going for their third straight victory on Sunday.

Nicolas Batum scored four points in the final second to lift Portland to a dramatic finish Friday night at the Rose Garden. Batum made a pair of free throws with just under a second remaining to tie the game, and after the Spurs threw the ball out of bounds on the ensuing in-bounds play, Andre Miller lobbed a pass to Batum who dropped one through for the win as time expired.

Portland trails Oklahoma City (47-24) by 5 1/2 games and Denver (44-29) by 1 1/2 games in the Northwest Division. The Blazers stand sixth in the West, a half-game ahead of New Orleans (42-31).

If Oklahoma City hits a lull, the Nuggets or Blazers might have something to say, especially Portland, as they will play the Thunder twice in less than a week.

The Thunder is 26-10 at OKC Arena, while Portland is 16-20 away from the Rose Garden.

The Thunder won both prior meetings this season with a 107-106 OT win at the Rose Garden on Nov 4, and then a 110-108 win at home just eight days later.

Recent Trends:
POR are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Over is 6-2 in POR last 8 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 7-1 in OKC last 8 overall.
OKC are 5-22 ATS in their last 27 Sun. games.
Over is 10-3 in OKC last 13 vs. NBA Northwest.
POR are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
Under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: As well as the Trail Blazers are playing, I expect Durant and Co. to be a little too much from them to overcome on the road.
