Houston Rockets vs. L.A. Clippers Preview

On the season the Rockets are 30-22 ATS and they have an O/U record of 25-27 and the Clippers are 21-32 ATS and they have an O/U record of 24-26-3.

This season the Clippers are 20-7 at home and the Rockets are 17-8 on the road.

In their last games the Rockets beat the Phoenix Suns 127-118 and the Clippers beat the Dallas Mavericks 115-98.

The Clippers head into this home game with the Rockets as the 3.5-point betting favorite even though Blake Griffin is out. However, Dwight Howard for the Rockets is also out, so 2 stars will not be on the court in this game.

One star that will be on the court is Houston’s James Harden, who may be the front-runner for the MVP award. It is not hard to see why looking at the recent win over the Suns where he went for 40 points scoring 20 in the 4th quarter.

[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He is averaging 27.7 ppg on the season, but in his last 5 games facing the Clippers he is only averaging 18.6 ppg on 37% shooting.

Both teams are coming off a win and the Rockets are 7-3 in their last 10 games and the Clippers are 5-5.

The Clippers snapped their season-high 4-game losing streak with a with their last win over the Mavericks.

Early in the season the Clippers laid a 17-point beat down on the Rockets in Houston.

Even with Howard out the Rockets have kept winning and they actually have a slightly better win percentage when he does not play.

This is the last game for each of these teams before the All Star break.

Clippers’ C DeAndre Jordan leads the NBA in rebounding and he had a monster game against Dallas going for 22 points and pulling down 27 rebounds. With Howard out the big men of the Rockets have to keep Jordan from having another dominating game on the glass.

The Rockets rank in the middle of the pack on defense an their perimeter defense facing Chris Paul and the sharpshooting duo of J.J. Reddick and Jamaal Crawford, who are each averaging over 14 ppg.
