The New York Knicks (9-11 SU, 10-10 ATS), doing worse on the court but better against the number these days, will try to take some momentum from a big win against the Pistons on Sunday and apply it to Tuesday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls (9-11 SU, 10-10 ATS). NBA pro basketball sports betting action is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 PM ET at the United Center in Chicago.

The Knicks shocked the Pistons at MSG as seven-point underdogs, beating Detroit by a 104-92 score. Chris Duhon, who has been this team’s most consistent performer, scored 25 points and handed out nine assists to lead the Knicks. Duhon, who is a former Bull, has averaged 8.2 assists per game which ties him for fourth best in the league. It appears that coach Mike D’Antoni made a good decision by reaching out to get him to run the New York attack.

The Bulls are on a high note of their own shooting 52% with eleven three-pointers against Washington on Saturday. Even with the terrible play of Drew Gooden, making just five of his last 26 shots, Luol Deng managed to pick up the slack busting loose for 26 points on 11-19 shooting. Derrick Rose has had a great start to his rookie campaign, averaging 18.5 points while shooting 49% over his first 20 games. Rose had a bit of a freak accident Sunday night as he rolled over onto a knife in bed creating a cut on his arm that required ten stitches. Despite the wound, he is scheduled to play and the placement of the injury should not effect his performance.

The Knicks, as most people know, have given up on their current talent pool and are dumping salaries where ever they can, namely Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph, in order position themselves for the LeBron sweepstakes in 2010. It has been rumored that they wouldn’t mind if Cuttino Mobley, acquired in the Randolph trade from the Clippers, didn’t get a medical clearance to play due to a heart problem which would free up even more cap space. Although D’Antoni has them playing more inspired ball, they are definitely in a rebuilding phase that has players looking around the room wondering who’s next on the trading block.

Another interesting story involves the two first year coaches, Vinny Del Negro and Mike D’Antoni, who passed on the Bulls job. Del Negro has been a great addition in the minds of a lot of Bulls players, Ben Gordon told the Chicago Tribune “Vinny is giving us freedom offensively,”. “That’s fun for players. I definitely like playing for him”. Gordon, who has been in the starting lineup for the last month, has averaged 20 points a game and hit 50% or better in four of his last seven games.

The Knicks don’t do well on the road, losing their last five away from home. They are very thin right now with recent trades, injuries and the Marbury predicament. Chicago, on the other hand, is getting itself together offensively and seem to be at the fringe of what could be a very promising future for basketball in Chi Town. We’ll lay the points with the Bulls, the eight-point favorite in the BetUS NBA pro basketball sports betting odds.
