Wednesday NBA odds: Spurs at Magic

Team records:
Indiana: 24-46 SU, 34-35-1 ATS
Detroit: 23-47 SU, 28-39-3 ATS

Two of the NBA’s lower-ranked teams go head-to-head on Tuesday night when the Detroit Pistons host the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers have shown signs of life, though, and they’ve dominated Detroit this year. .

Matchup: Pacers at Pistons

Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Venue: The Palace at Auburn Hills
Spread: Pacers -4
Over/Under: 205

The Pacers (24-46, 34-25-1 ATS) have put together a solid little run over the past couple of weeks. They’ve won back-to-back games and are 3-1 in their past four outings. The most recent win came Sunday, an impressive 121-101 blowout over Oklahoma City. Few teams are playing as well as Indiana against the spread right now; the team has won five straight on NBA odds and is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games. The Pacers have also covered four of their past five games away from home.

Danny Granger continues to be Indiana’s best player. The forward is averaging 23.4 points per game on the year, and that number climbs to a very impressive 29.0 in Indiana’s past three wins; they go where Granger goes. Troy Murphy has also been a very solid contributor; he’s picked up a double-double in four of his last five outings and has put up 20-plus points in his last two games.

Detroit (23-47, 28-39-3 ATS) has melted down over the past few weeks. The Pistons are losers of five straight, including a 104-79 whipping at the hands of Cleveland on Sunday. In fact, Detroit has just two wins in its last 14 games. Not surprisingly, the Pistons have struggled at the sportsbook too; they’ve lost five consecutive games on NBA odds and are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games. Detroit is just 4-5-1 in its last 10 outings at the Palace at Auburn Hills. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Poor defense has been a major contributor to the slump. The Pistons have allowed 110.8 points per game during their losing streak and failed to hold any opponent to double-digits during that span. In fact, they’ve done so only once in their past seven games. It’s a considerable drop off from their 98.7 average throughout the season, which ranks a solid 13th in the NBA.

The Pacers and Pistons have met three times this season, with Indiana coming out on top both straight up and against the spread all three times. The most recent game was just last Friday, a 106-102 Pacers win. In fact, the Pacers have covered seven straight against Detroit.

Pacers vs Pistons Free Pick: Indiana is playing very solid basketball at the sportsbook while Detroit is crashing and burning. Considering the Pacers have dominated Detroit over the past few seasons, it’s not a terribly difficult choice. Bet on Indiana.
