NBA Playoffs odds – Portland Trailblazers at Phoenix Suns, Game 5 preview

Team records:
Portland: 50-32 SU, 45-35-2 ATS
Phoenix: 54-28 SU, 48-32-2 ATS

The Trailblazers got a pleasant surprise—and victory—in Game 4 of their series with the Suns as Brandon Roy returned from knee surgery. Thought to be lost for the series, Roy made a great impact on Portland, which won 96-87 on Saturday. Now, the teams shift back to Phoenix for Game 5.

Matchup: Trailblazers at Suns

Time: Monday at 10:30 p.m. ET
Venue: US Airways Center
Spread: Suns -6.5
Over/Under: 202

Portland’s Game 4 victory also covered the spread, which was a pleasant surprise for sportsbook bettors; the Trailblazers had won and covered just two of their last five outings against the spread—all of which took place without the presence of Roy.

Hitting the road and facing the Suns in Phoenix is daunting, but not the end of the world; Portland is 6-3-1 in its last 10 road games on NBA odds.

Roy’s miraculous return provided more of an emotional uplift than actual on-court production. Still, he was solid in limited action, posting 10 points in 27 minutes and hitting a crucial fourth-quarter three.

Perhaps most importantly, he created more room for LaMarcus Aldridge to operate. Aldridge responded in a big way, absolutely destroying Phoenix for 31 points and 11 rebounds.

Andre Miller finished second on Portland with 15 points.

Phoenix dropped to 5-2 in its last seven games with Saturday’s loss. The Suns have also covered five of their last seven games against the spread.

Returning to US Airways Center should give the Suns an edge, however—they are a very impressive 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

The Suns simply couldn’t get their offense going against a pumped-up Trailblazers team.

Amare Stoudemire had a series-best 26 points, but just two other Suns even managed double figures—Steve Nash and Jason Richardson had 15 points apiece.

It’s much less than what you’d expect from that duo; Nash, usually a lock for double-digit assists, produced just four dimes while Richardson fell off from his torrid pace (42 and 29 points in his last two games, respectively).

Blazers vs. Suns Free NBA Playoff Pick

Clearly, the Blazers mean business—especially with Roy back in the lineup. They’re going to have a crazy crowd backing them in Game 5, which should be enough to get a win—but not enough to cover.

Pick Portland against the spread.
