The Magic took game one but they used an interesting formula getting almost no offesnive production from Supeman Dwight Howard.
Instead the leading scorer was Mighty Mite Jameer Nelson who scored 32 points inlcuding four for eight from deep. Howard did impact the game on the defensive end wth an amazng nine blocks and the Magic were able to get enough scoring from Rashard Lewis, Michael Pietrus and JJ Reddick to offset Howard’s lack of scoring punch.
The fact that Orlando still won relatively easy is not a good sign for Charlotte.
The Magic will enter Game 2 having devised some new wrinkles to get Howard untracked which combined with their outside shooting should be more than enough for them to get out to a 2-0 series lead heading into Charlotte.
Charlotte did a few very important things right but it did not lead to victory in Game 1. They held Howard in check, out-rebounded the Magic by ten, got a solid game from Ray Felton and outshot Orlando from the field.
The Magic scored 30 more points from deep than the Bobcats which enabled them to overcome the aforementioned and grab victory. Gerald Wallace never ceases to amaze.
In a losing effort he scored 25 points and collected 17 rebounds to lead all players. He needs fellow forward Boris Diaw to step up, 6 points in 42 minutes is not going to cut it.
For Charlotte to have a chance in this game and the series they need to even the advantage the Magic have at the arc.
If they don’t it will be a quick exit.

I thought if Charlotte had any chance for an upset it would be in Game 1. As noted they did some things well but it wasn’t enough which demonstrates the huge difference between a championship calibre team like the Magic and the Bobcats.
Now that the window for an early upset has been closed look for the Magic to methodically beat down the Bobcats beginning with a double digit victory.
