So it ends for the Chicago Bulls.

Game 5 tonight in Chicago perhaps. If not, then certainly Game 6 in Miami.

As the Bulls drop into the deep well that includes the Celtics, Spurs, Lakers and other decent teams which were just not good enough, their 2011 playoff legacy will be that of a team that relied too much on one player and was unable to turn it up another notch in the playoffs against a team that was peaking at the right time (for Chicago, the wrong time).

Bulls fans may have assumed that their team’s regular season success would meld seamlessly into the playoffs, but nothing is the same once the 82-game exhibition season is over. Fouls are harder, defenders play 48 minutes instead of just the final 12, and some teams are just not ready for the intensity.

And nothing seems to have gone right for the Bulls through the first four games of the Eastern Conference finals. Carlos Boozer has turtled, depriving Chicago of a second scoring option it desperately needs. Backup center Omer Asik is injured and done. Derrick Rose is not getting open looks and clearly looks gassed.

Unless things change, and change quickly, America will be treated to a heaping pile of the team we lose to hate in The Finals. Miami is the UN team – unlikable, probably unbeaten and at time unreal. As Rose found out on several occasions in Game 4, if LeBron James doesn’t want you to score, you ain’t scoring.

The only way to attack the Heat effectively is with ball movement, and a point guard-centric offense with few other scoring options will not get it done three straight times.

NBA Trends:

MIA are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games.
CHI are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 Thu. games.
Under is 20-7-1 in CHI last 28 Thu. games.
Under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Chicago.
Home team is 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings.

BEST BET: Game 4 decides a lot of NBA playoff series, and this one was no different. When the Bulls couldn’t score in their final possession in regulation, it was basically a done deal. Miami jumps out early tonight and doesn’t look back. Take the Heat on the money line to get to The Finals.
