The Memphis Grizzlies mauled the Thunder on Sunday and will now seek to take away home court advantage by going up a pair in Game 2 of the 2011 NBA Western Conference Semifinals on Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

Zach Randolph led the Grizzlies to another playoff upset, scoring a playoff career-high 34 points and 10 rebounds en route to a 114-101 rout of Oklahoma City that received a disappointing performance from Kendrick Perkins, who was expected to give the Thunder the muscle they needed inside to thwart the Memphis bigs.

But instead Randolph and seven-foot-one center Marc Gasol, who added 20 points and 13 boards, outmatched Perkins while outscoring their oppoenents, 52 (26-of-50) to the Thunder’s 38 (19-of-43) points in the paint. The Grizzlies, who led the NBA with 51.5 points per game inside, averaged a whopping 59 against Oklahoma City while winning the regular-season series 3-1. So it’s no surprise they continued their dominance down low on Sunday.

Memphis also grabbed 18 offensive rebounds, but the Thunder wasn’t far behind with 16 of their own. However, turnovers were a big part of the win for the Grizz, who had just seven while Oklahoma City had 18 in which Memphis promptly turned into 23 points. Eleven of those coming off steals.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 33 points and 11 rebounds and Russell Westbrook chipped in with 29, as Oklahoma shot just 35 field goals at 44.9 percent shooting, while allowing Memphis to shoot 49.4 percent while hitting just about everywhere on the floor.

The Thunder’s Perkins and friends will need to pack the paint, clogging up the middle forcing the Grizzlies to shoot outside jump shots. Even then, the Thunder will have to shake the rust off and be more physical with Memphis from their bigs to their smalls, communicate defensively, and finally—take better care of the ball.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Thunder – Randolph has looked unstoppable, even against a front line that added Perkins. The Thunder now finds themselves with very little breathing room and knows that if they cannot take one at home they will have to steal a win in Memphis to have a chance at winning the series. I think OKC got caught, but I don’t expect that to happen in Game 2.
