If it’s one thing the Celtics are good at, it’s starting over.

Bad finish to the regular season? No sweat. Playoffs are here, so who cares?

Uneven performance against the Hawks (2008) or Bulls (2009). Fugenaboudit.

This is Boston’s season, and if the Miami Heat are going to put an end to the Celtics’ run with the Big Three of Garnett, Pierce and Allen, they are going to have to go belly button to the wall to get it done. If LeBron James and Dwyane Wade don’t bring it, and bring it hard, every game, they will be chillin’ on South Beach while the Celtics move on.

Boston enters this series with a huge edge at the point, where Rajon Rondo is playing at such a high level that he can almost win a game or two by himself in a seven-game series. Miami coach Erik Spoelstra, meanwhile, is getting nothing out of starter Mike Bibby and may turn to Mario Chalmers for key minutes.

The Celtics also like their matchup at the 4, where Kevin Garnett will be in Chris Bosh’s face (and ear) from the opening tip until the series ends. Boston’s ability to keep Bosh in a confined area and not allow him to take unmolested 15-footers will limit Miami’s offensive options. Bosh doesn’t like contact, but he’ll get more than his share of it in the next week and a half.

If Boston’s game plan is effective, that puts tremendous pressure on James and Wade, who together combined for almost as many points (47) a game as everyone else on the roster (48). Defensively, Miami probably will follow the same game plan that has worked against the Celtics (somewhat) over the past few months – shut down Ray Allen by not dropping his defender (Wade, in this case) to help, live with whatever Pierce does and figure that no other starter (Garnett, Rondo, Jermaine O’Neal) will do too much damage.

NBA Trends:

Under is 13-3 in BOS last 16 Sun. games.
Under is 19-6-1 in BOS last 26 overall.
BOS are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 Sun. games.
Under is 6-2 in MIA last 8 overall.
Under is 6-2 in MIA last 8 Sun. games.
Under is 6-2 in MIA last 8 vs. Eastern Conference.
BOS are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Miami.
Favorite is 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings.

BEST BET: Look for low totals, especially in Miami, where Boston’s halfcourt offense is vulnerable to pressure. Miami will gladly to slow the tempo and force Boston to work for shots, and the Celtics will also be happy forcing Miami to navigate through their pressure defense for 70-80 possessions.

Play is under.
