They’ll look to do the same when the Washington Wizards come to town for the back end of their back-to-back.

Washington

The Wizards have had no problem with fatigue when playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back this season. This will be the fifth time Washington will endure a two games in as many nights. Thus far, the Wizards have gone 4-0 in the 2nd legs, with three of those coming on the road.

While there are many factors to why the Wizards are having so much early season success, their team chemistry has been a big factor. The Wizards average 24.7 assists per game (3rd).

They’ve also responded well to team leader, Paul Pierce, who said the team needed to “grow up” following their loss to the Mavs.

Since then, the team has won 2 in a row, including a 13 point win over Wednesdays opponent the Cavaliers.

In road contests this season, Washington is currently 4-2 and 4-2 ATS. Their most recent away game was the 2nd leg of a back-to-back, where they defeated the Pacers 97-90.

The Wizards are averaging 98.3 points a road game and allowing 96.8 points.

Cleveland

Lebron James made an early statement in the Cavs match up against the Magic on Monday. James rushed out of the gate and dropped 16 points in the first quarter and finished with 29 in 106-74 thrashing. Lebron and company will look to string together back to back wins for the first time since their four game winning streak in mid November.

While a win over Orlando doesn’t make up for the poor play this season, it is a step in the right direction as the Cavs look to play up to their expectations. Head coach David Blatt has been preaching defense the whole season and finally got his team to buy into the philosophy. Cleveland allowed a season low 74 points Monday to go along with 14 blocks and 9 steals.

The Cavs at home this season are 3-4 and 3-4 ATS.

They saw their average points allowed at home drop to 97.4 thanks to their performance against the Magic.

NBA Basketball Handicapping Trends:

  • Wizards are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Wizards are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Wednesday games.
  • Cavaliers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games.
  • Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.

When these two teams met on November 21st, the Cavaliers failed to make a field goal in the final 9 minutes of the game. The Cavs body language was poor and they seemed to have zero hustle in them.

While they come in with a little momentum, they’ll have to play with the same intensity they had Monday for 48 minutes on Wednesday against a tough Wizards team.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Washington +6

Its still hard to trust the Cavaliers. Washington has proven they can be one of the top teams in the East and taking out the Cavaliers for the second time this season would go a long way in proving that.

Cleveland 100, Washington 99

This game will be back and forth all night long and will come down to whoever can step up down the stretch defensively.
