The Bulls will be without star PG Derrick Rose and now have learned the G Jimmy Butler will also be out for Tuesday’s contest. Washington finally has some of their key players healthy as Bradley Beal and Paul Pierce are both expected to play.

Washington

The Wizards struggled mightily without G Bradley Beal in the lineup. Beal missed over a month, but returned to the lineup on Saturday as the Wizards put the brakes on a 6 game losing streak with their win over Detroit 99-95. Beal came back and contributed 8 points to go along with 6 rebounds, but just his presence alone was enough to rally the Wizards.

Washington got contributions from just about everyone in the win. Paul Pierce dropped in 14, Wall scored 22, and Gortat grabbed 17 rebounds. The Wizards looked like a much different and more confident team with Beal in the lineup.

Now, Washington can turn their focus to the 2.5 game gap that sits between them and Cleveland. They’ll hit Chicago at the right time as they continue to battle injuries.

Washington brings in a 13-16 S.U. road record however. Back on Jan. 14th, Washington did beat Chicago inside the United Center 105-99.

John Wall led the way for Washington in that win with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

Chicago

While there is still plenty of basketball left to be played, it isn’t quite time to hit the panic button for the Bulls. However, they’ll have to do some damage control until Rose returns to the lineup as they look to put a halt to their inconsistent basketball on Tuesday night. Chicago comes in off a 10 point home loss to the Clippers on Sunday. They battled with Los Angeles for a majority of the game, but down the stretch failed to have anybody step up.

G Jimmy Butler who averaged over 20 points a game will undergo more tests to see just how severe his injury is. With Rose also out, somebody will have to step up and pick up the scoring for Chicago.

Rookie PF Nikola Mirotic helped the cause on Sunday as he threw in a season a high 29 points. Mirotic should expect to see his minutes increase a lot as he also grabbed 9 rebounds in the contest.

F Pau Gasol, who was battling sickness, struggled from the field as he scored just 4 points Sunday. Expect Gasol to have a bounce back game as he is feeling much better.

Chicago currently sits a .5 game up on Cleveland for the 3 seed. While the task will be tough to hold the spot down, winning games at home will be a major must for Chicago.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Wizards are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall.

Chicago 99, Washington 93

Even with Butler out, Gasol, Noah, and company have enough veteran experience to pick up the slack.
