Golden State comes in off a dominating defensive showing against Washington. The Trail Blazers look to avoid losing their lead in the Northwest Division.

Golden State

The Warriors dominance is coming on both ends of the floor these days. Known for the Splash brothers and the high paced, high scoring offense, the Warriors flashed a little defense on Monday night in their blowout win over the Wizards.

Golden State held Washington to just 1 of 18 shooting from the field in the 3rd quarter as they watched Washington score just 8 points. The Warriors pulled away and ultimately routed the Wizards in the end.

Golden State will look to clinch a playoff birth with a victory over Portland on Tuesday night. However, Golden State obviously has the overall 1 seed on their minds. Currently, Golden State sits 7.5 games ahead of Memphis in the standings. Barring an unbelievable collapse, the Warriors are poised to grab that top spot.

Thompson and Curry continue to impress more and more as the days go on. Thompson is averaging 26.3 points a game over his last 4 road contests. Curry has averaged 35.8 points over that same span.

The Warriors bring in a 23-11 S.U. road record thus far.

Portland

The Trail Blazers struggles are becoming a serious concern for everyone involved. Portland looks to put an end to their 4 game losing streak as they also look to hold onto the top spot in the Northwest Division.

If things weren’t going bad enough for Portland, the status of LaMarcus Aldridge is now in question. Aldridge is expected to miss Tuesday and possibly more time as he battles a finger injury. The Trail Blazers have shown they seriously struggle without Aldridge in the middle of the paint.

To add to all the problems, Nicolas Batum and Chris Kaman are both likely out Tuesday. Batum continues to battle a sore back and Kaman is battling a right shoulder injury. The lack of depth and scoring is a major concern right now for Portland.

That being said, good teams can find ways to win. Portland still has PG Damian Lillard, who is averaging 21.3 points a game this season. Lillard has shown on numerous occasions he can put the team on his back and carry them.

At home this season, Portland is currently 28-6 S.U. They’ve shown they can beat any type of opponent at home this season.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Warriors are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
  • Warriors are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 vs. Western Conference.
  • Trail Blazers are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points.
  • Trail Blazers are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 Tuesday games.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Portland +5

The Trail blazers know they need to right the ship quickly. Obviously against the top team in the NBA is not the game they want to run into right now, but it will be a good test for them.

Golden State 105, Portland 104

Expect this one to come down to the wire with taking the points being the safe way to go.
