Charlotte, losers in 7 of their last 10, sit in 10th in the NBA Eastern Conference, 1.5 games off the pace for the 8 seed.

Indiana, losers in 2 of their last 11, sit just a .5 game back of Charlotte, but 2 full games back of 8 seeded Miami.

A loss on Friday for either team will put them into a bad position as the season winds down.

Charlotte

Charlotte currently sits on the outside looking in as far as the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs are concerned because of their struggles on the road. Charlotte is just 14-22 S.U. on the road this season. Overall, Charlotte is just 3-7 in their last 10. The Hornets do come in on a high after knocking off the Detroit Pistons 102-78.

The Hornets were boosted by Marvin Williams, who scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the win. Also contributing for the Hornets was PG Kemba Walker, who scored 17 points and also grabbed 6 rebounds.

Things have not been easy for Charlotte inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. They’ve dropped 11 straight, including an 88-86 defeat back on Nov. 19. Leading the way for Charlotte was C Al Jefferson, who scored 28 points in the loss.

This game also holds major tie breaker implications for the Hornets. A loss would give Indiana the head-to-head advantage, but a win for Charlotte would split the season series at 2 games a piece.

Charlotte’s last road win came back on 3/22 when they knocked off the Timberwolves 109-98.

Indiana

With a win on Friday, they would jump over Charlotte in the standings and hold the tiebreaker advantage. The tiebreaker advantage could come into affect if both teams should finish 8 & 9 in the Eastern Conference. Indiana though comes in losers of 2 straight road games to the Nets and Celtics.

Indiana’s schedule does not get any easier down the stretch of the season either. They will run into the Raptors two times, along with Atlanta and Houston.

Indiana is losing games because of their lack of defensive stops. With just that 2-9 record in their last 11 games, the Pacers have allowed over 100 points 8 times. That is well above their season average of just 97.5 points a game (7th).

The Pacers may be without PG Rodney Stuckey, who is listed as questionable for the contest with Charlotte. Stuckey injured his wrist against Boston and will be a game time decision come Friday.

On the season, Stuckey is averaging 12.8 points a game.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Hornets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Hornets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Pacers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. Eastern Conference.
  • Pacers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Charlotte +5

Yes, they’ve been winless in their last 11 meetings in Indiana, but at this time of the season, this is a grind it out type of game.

Charlotte 92, Indiana 90

Expect a low scoring, defensive battle, with the outcome being within a possession.
