Nobody will disagree with Blatt and his comments as the Cavaliers fell to Atlanta in a 127-98 defeat. Cleveland will look to get back on track when Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets come to town.

Brooklyn

If Brooklyn expects to make any noise in the Eastern Conference, they’ll have to first start scoring. The Nets have surpassed the 100 point mark just 1 time over their past 13 games and are averaging just 95.9 points a game this season (22nd).

The return of Kevin Garnett could provide the boost that Brooklyn needs Friday night.

The Nets come in losing 2 in a row and sit 4 games below the .500 mark. A positive they can take from this season thus far has been the play of C Mason Plumlee. Plumlee has seen extended playing time with Brook Lopez going down with an injury. Plumlee is currently averaging a double-double over his last 4 games with 18.3 points and 10 rebounds.

Plumlee will need PG Deron Williams to get back to their normal scoring ways if they Nets want to get back in the win column. Williams scored just 11 points in the Nets lost to Toronto and continues to show inconsistency every game. If the Nets can get contributions from Williams to go along with Plumlee and SG Joe Johnson, Brooklyn can get things rolling before falling to far out of the playoff race.

On the road this season, Brooklyn holds a 5-7 record.

Cleveland

The Cavs had looked like they were off and running finally, but they’ve now dropped 3 of their last 4 games. In those 4 games, Cleveland is allowing 109.3 points to go along with teams shooting 52 percent from the field.

While there is nothing positive to take away from Wednesday’s defeat, the Cavaliers will at least have the big 3 well rested and ready to go as they sat out the entire 4th quarter. While Lebron James and Kevin Love had a decent contribution Wednesday, Kyrie Irving will look to rebound from his worst performance of the season. Irving shot just 4 of 9 from the field and went 0 of 3 from behind the arc.

While the James, Love, and Irving all look to avenge Wednesday, watch for SG Dion Waiters in this matchup. Waiters scored 26 points in the previous meeting between the two and is averaging 22.8 points against Brooklyn over the last 4 meetings. Dion Waiters has been trying to find his place within this new Cavaliers offense and has been doing a good job of finding it as of late.

Cleveland holds an 8-5 record at home this season. Although it didn’t show last game, the Cavaliers are holding opponents to an average of 99.2 points a game.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Nets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
  • Nets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. NBA Central.
  • Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Atlantic.
  • Cavaliers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Cleveland -12

While this number has been pushed up from the opening number of 10, there is plenty of value here.

Cleveland 115, Brooklyn 90

Cleveland should bounce back and repay the home crowd for their performance on Wednesday.
