Toronto
The Raptors blew it last night against New Orleans, letting an 18 point lead slip away against a Pelicans team that was missing its top player.

What was equally disappointing is that their bench, usually one of the team’s strengths was badly outplayed. Patrick Patterson was not in the lineup and he is a difference maker who usually plays down the stretch but still the team should have got it done. Now they have the difficult task of shuffling back down the road to Dallas on 0 days rest.
The backcourt of Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan needs to play better tonight in Big D. They might have combined for 36 points last night but I saw a lot of rushed shots.

A portion of that urgency might have come from the fact that they did not get much from their reserve perimeter trio of Lou Williams, Greivis Vasquez and Terrence Ross. They are on a back to back tonight and will need their depth to come through with a victory.
Dallas
Dallas has come out of the break with a 2-1 record including 1-0 without the services of versatile forward Chandler Parsons, who is not expected to play in this one. Some may have questioned the acquisition of Amare Stoudemire but he scored 14 points in their last game, a win over Charlotte. Dallas does not scare me but they are a good team that plays well at home. They are definitely not the type of team you want to play when you have played the night before too because they prefer a crisp pace.
Stoudemire may still be able to score a few points but the team will not be going anywhere if Monta Ellis does not get back on track. This may still be Dirk’s team but success in the playoffs will not come if they are relying on his aging legs and fadeaways.

Ellis is the team’s leading scorer and takes the most shots. Dirk as a secondary option makes this team very dangerous but Ellis looked gassed before the break and has only been a factor in one of three games since.
